Most complaints can be sorted out quickly and easily, often at the time that they arise or soon after, with the person concerned and this may be the approach you try first.
If however you are unable to resolve your complaint in this way and wish to make a formal complaint you should do this in writing as soon as possible after the event and ideally within a few days, as this helps us establish what happened more easily. However it must definitely happen within 6 months from the event.
If you have been seen as a patient yourself, you can complain about your own care. However you are unable to complain about anyone else’s care without their written authority.
