About me

I’m a Registered General  Nurse having initially  trained at Addenbrookes Hospital in 1989. I  have been working  as a nurse in  General  Practice  for over 25 years where removing ear wax which was causing patients problems was a very regular task!

In 2020,  most GP practices  stopped providing ear wax removal on the NHS because of financial reasons and this has caused a great problem for many people who suffer from excessive wax build up which can cause  isolation, discomfort and hearing loss as well sometimes causing recurrent infections.

I  set up my own private practice in 2020 to help patient locally with wax issues  and  I now offer  wax removal by either  irrigation (used to be called ear syringing)  and or micro-suction and sometimes a combination of both, to quickly relieve patients from reduced hearing or recurrent infections caused by wax.

All treatments are carried out in my purpose built treatment room where I can assess and perform wax removal  for those patients suffering from hearing loss due to stubborn wax.

Our treatment room

I am also happy to assess ears prior to an audiology  appointment, to check for wax (and remove this is necessary) before new  hearing aid mouldings are required.

I am DBS checked, fully insured (including public liability insurance), a member of the NMC ( Nursing and Midwifery Council) . I am also regulated by the  CQC (Care Quality Commission)  a legal requirement which came about in 2022.

I am able to offer appointments  in my purpose built treatment room in Cambridge Road, Ely which has free parking.

I offer a professional, personal, effective and safe service . I am usually able to  see all patients within  just a few days from enquiring and sometimes I have same day appointments available for booking. I have appointments available most days of the week and also offer some evening and weekend appointments.

Please note that there are two small steps into my  treatment room however I do have a ramp that can be used for wheelchair access or those who would find steps difficult.

Care Quality Commission

In January 2022, new regulations were introduced  for all registered  and qualified nurses who run independent businesses for ear  wax removal. This involved being regulated and inspected by the CQC.

The CQC make sure that Health and Social Care Services provide people with safe , effective, compassionate, high quality care. They monitor, inspect and regulate services and then they publish what they find, include performance  ratings,  so to help the public chose suitable  and high quality care.

Ely Ear Care became a CQC regulated business in July 2022 and  meets high standards and abides by all the legal regulations required.
